Writing for Mobile-Zeitgeist

Maybe some of you, especially the german speaking readers of my blog, have noticed it. I am now writing blog post from time to time also on Mobile-Zeitgeist. Mobile-Zeitgeist is a known german blog about the mobile world which covers topics like mobile marketing, mobile advertisement, mobile commerce, mobile web & apps, mobile markets, mobile solutions, mobile development and any kind of mobile technologies. Besides that mobile-zeitgeist is also providing a mobile job section.

Since years, I am a reader of this blog and in the beginning of this year I thought, why not writing for them to add some mobile testing topics to this great blog. I contacted Heike Scholz, who is the creator of this blog and she really liked my commitment to contribute to the blog.

Printed Edition of Hands-On Mobile App Testing

I am very happy and proud that I was able to write this book. While writing the book I improved some of my personal skills. For example, I improved my english writing skills (at least I hope so :)). I learned that it is very important to be focused on a certain topic instead of jumping through chapters. I improved my organizational skills, I learned to be patient, critical to myself and to be tenacious.

Mobile A/B Testing Tools

This post is dealing with A/B testing tools for mobile apps. A/B testing is nothing new and is a common instrument in the Marketing, Business Intelligence as well as in the software development industry. A/B testing is often used in Web based applications to test which version or variant of the Website is performing better in terms of revenue or click rates compared to the original one. The Smashing Magazine published a nice guide about A/B testing including Do’s and Dont’s.

A couple of weeks ago I thought about A/B testing in the mobile app world. In my last projects we were always performing usability tests with customers in order to get a feeling for the app and how features are working. We never thought about A/B testing. I started a little research and found the great overview about mobile A/B testing tools from the company autosend.io.

In this post I want to give you some insights in my daily working life as a mobile tester especially which tools I use to test mobile apps. I got ask this question several times while attending conferences or I have been asked via eMail. Which tools are you using for mobile testing. In this post I want to give you the answer to this question.

One remark, the tools I am using in my current project are best for my current situation but this must not be the case for you and your project. Please keep this in mind and don’t just use the tools I am using. This might not be the best fit for your project and your software development environment.
